Mr Simon Leong, Senior Area General Manager of Federal Hotels International and Chairman of Bukit Bintang Central Gotong Royong said “I’m really honour and grateful to have such overwhelming support from all of you in this morning’s gotong royong, cleaning of Bukit Bintang Central. This morning’s gotong royong is our 38 edition, since 2001. The Bukit Bintang Central environmental Committee in collaboration with Kementrain Wilayah Persekutuan, DBKL, SWcorp, Alam Flora, IWK, Air Selangor, Partners of LA21 Kuala Lumpur and your support have achieved quite a lot in term of cleanliness in Bukit Bintang Central, not only during gotong royong days, which we do twice a year. With periodical multilateral consultations between the local community, local authorities and service providers, we have seen improvements year by year, but there are still plenty of rooms for improvements.  Most of you will agreed with me, enough have been said about proper waste management. The question is, are we doing enough? Many conveniences comes with waste. Your packed breakfast, lunch, tea snacks or dinner produced lots of single used plastic waste. Ever consider using a reusable container?  If you have not, is never too late to start irrespective of your age to reduce waste.  We have today a number of qualified partners to share their knowledge on waste management. To learn more, do not miss this opportunity to move around the exhibition booths and feel free to ask questions.  As cleanliness and health are very much related, there is also a booth offering basic health screening, courtesy of KPJ Sentosa specialist hospital.   While the cleaning is progressing, we will also take this opportunity to equip  the younger generations with talks and demonstrations to students from several school in the city covering subjects on waste managements, first aid, dance exercise, health care and dengue prevention.  Last but not least, I wish to thank our partners for their continuous support of venue, equipment, logistic, breakfasts, door gifts and lucky draw prizes for this morning’s event.
