We also have our partners exhibiting their recycle wares and at the same time willingly sharing their experiences. Please move about around all the exhibition booths, sharing expertise on 3R, recycling of waste and waste management. Basic health screening is made available courtesy of KPJ Sentosa and Jabatan Kesihatan dan Alam Sekitar, DBKL.

After the flag off, there will be talks related to healthy life style, antismoking, good waste management practices, crime prevention and fire prevention for school children. Also special session in later part of the morning on dance exercise techniques and eco ranger challenge.

Mr Simon Leong, Senior Area General Manager of Federal Hotels International and Chairman of Bukit Bintang Central Gotong Royong said “We are pleased to work with LA21 partners in making this twice yearly events possible, our 35th gotong royong, into the year 18.  We are happy to have continuous overwhelming support in all our events from our LA21 partners and the local community, on our mission to improve the wellbeing of people in this great city of ours.  In Malaysia, it is alarming to note that we are rated as the highest among Asian countries in terms of waste produced, over 30,000 tons per day and we are also top on obesity, that is over 40% of the population falls under the obese category. Both of which are detrimental to our health and wellbeing if left unchecked. This morning, let’s do a little bit more of walking than normal, 3.8 km and at the same time picking up litters or trash, crossing our path along the few busiest roads in Kuala Lumpur.  With this, we hope to inculcate the need to exercise to improve our health and managed and reduce waste awareness. Some call it “Plogging”, is starting with a P, for better health and yours contribution towards a cleaner Kuala Lumpur. Is really a good 2 exercise in one.  Make it your daily routine. While on the road safety is the priority, walk on the designated section of the road and follow the instructions of the stationed volunteers and enforcement officers.”
