An assortment of 30 cakes were put up for display at the Throne Room of Istana Negara on Friday morning, 3 June 2011 in conjunction with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin's birthday on Saturday, 4 June 2011. The cake fest, which was graced by Tuanku Mizan and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah, is an annual event held for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's birthday and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Federal Hotels International (FHI) Group of Hotels namely The Federal Kuala Lumpur, Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur and The Grace Hotel Sydney presented the King’s birthday cake themed “Treasures of the Sea” to His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Her Majesty, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah, in conjunction with the King’s Birthday.

Weighing 50kg, the cake showcased a model Terengganu traditional wooden boat Perahu Kolek with Malaysia Flags proudly perched on the boat, two intricately yellow and red beautifully hand crafted sugar treasure boxes filled with gold and silver wrapped chocolates plus chocolate coins, signifying a healthy, prosperous and bountiful year ahead for the country. Detailed and beautifully sculptured in shades of sky blue, yellow and white, there are over 300 pieces of delicious gold and silver wrapped chocolates and chocolate coins, chocolates in shaped of sea shells and fishes as well as corals, oysters and underwater seaweeds made of sugar. It took our FHI & Federal teams over one month to conceptualise and complete the masterpiece replete with chocolate-covered pralines, a whole fruit cake which formed the base of the cake, with marzipan and regal sugar icing bathed in shades of sky blue and white depicting the sea and the decorations showcasing our rich marine life with abundance of intricate sea shell, fishes corals and sea weeds. The masterpiece was the result of a month long hard work by Chef Mariam bte Nabiahmad, Pastry Chef and Chef Adika b Abdullah, Chef de Partie of The Federal Kuala Lumpur. The birthday cake was bordered with the words Daulat Tuanku and Selamat Menyambut Hari Keputeraan Rasmi.
