Ms Ooi Lee Ping, Director Group Marketing, Sales & Business Development and Operations of Federal Hotels International (FHI) “We are deeply honoured to have YTM Tunku Datin Paduka Khadijah, daughter of YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman to celebrate this very special occasion with us together with some 120 children from Rumah Nur Kasih Bestari, Ti-Ratana Welfare Society and Sanctuary Care Centre Home.  This year, the theme of Merdeka is Sayangi MalaysiaKu (Love our Malaysia).  Fly the Jalur Gemilang, Love Our Malaysia" is the message of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for this year's National Day celebration, and encourages all Malaysians to fly the Jalur Gemilang during this Merdeka month Celebrations.  Indeed, this year’s Merdeka Celebration is very significant as we are all inspired by Harapan Merdeka (Merdeka Hope) for a greater and progressive Malaysia, in the Muhibbah spirit of Harmony, Hope and Unity in Diversity which befits our Merdeka spirit of celebrating Malaysia’s diversity, promotes unity, togetherness and understanding among Malaysians in conjunction with the upcoming this 61st National Day 2018 celebration as well as Malaysia Day.  This Merdeka charity event held in conjunction with The Federal Hotel’s 61st Anniversary celebration is part of our Federal Hotels International Group’s continuous Sharing & Caring Community Commitments, as we wanted to continue to instil the meaning of Merdeka and patriotic spirit amongst the children, our younger generation and fellow Malaysians.  We have always encouraged our Teams to help Make A Difference.  The Federal Kuala Lumpur, also known as the Hotel for Merdeka, was the first international Hotel, which opened its doors on 28 August 1957 to welcome all VIPs, foreign dignitaries, and diplomats who arrived in Kuala Lumpur to witness Malaya celebrate her independence on 31 August 1957.  The Federal Hotel has embodied the spirit of Malaysia in both its design and themes befitting its role as the venue for all official banquet receptions and functions hosted by the Federal Government and private sector alike.  To celebrate this double joyous occasions, Malaysia & The Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur, both celebrating its 61st Anniversary, and in paying tribute to our Bapa Malaysia, the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al Haj, our first Prime Minister of Malaysia, our Team of Chefs from The Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur has specially selected some recipes of Tunku’s favourite dishes from Favourite Dishes from the Tunku’s Kitchen cookbook for this afternoon luncheon.  The Federal Kuala Lumpur will be distributing the Jalur Gemilang flag as well as a #AnakAnakMalaysia wristbands contributed by EcoWorld sharing the same patriotic cause of promoting unity, patriotism and love for our Country.  Kita semua Anak-Anak Malaysia, in the spirit of Merdeka, let’s come together to fly our Jalur Gemilang and together we stand as A Nation solidified in Unity and Harmony, let us aspire to realise our goals together for a greater and progressive Malaysia – Kita Punya Malaysia, Sayangi MalaysiaKu, Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan ke 61!”
